There is nothing more wonderful than waking up in the
morning and smelling that wonderful smell of hot coffee. Millions of people
around the world love that smell. Coffee is a drink to be savored and enjoyed, and
here are some tips to help you make sure you can savor the perfect cup of
coffee every day.
if you are drinking coffee for the caffeine content, keep in
mind that the darker a coffee is, the less caffeine it has in it. This is
because the amount of caffeine is diminished when the coffee is roasted for
longer. Most people have the misconception that it is the total opposite.
If you are a heavy coffee drinker make lunch you last cup.
Drinking caffeine in the afternoon and evening can seriously effect your
ability to sleep soundly. As long as you don't load your coffee up with too
many calories it is just fine to have several cups during the morning hours.
If you want great coffee at home you have a couple choices.
You can invest in either an espresso machine, or one of the new single serve
coffee makers. The espresso machine will require a bit of a learning curve as
you learn to properly brew espresso and steam milk, but can be a great way to
impress your friends.
If you want fancy latte decorations without a fancy latte
price, you can try making your own. There are various guides online that can
get you started. With some practice, you can make latte art as good as any
barista using milk and melted chocolate. You will not only save money by
creating beautiful latte designs, but you'll impress your guests too.
Keep your automatic coffee maker clean with white vinegar.
Run a brewing cycle with one part water to one part white vinegar. After
allowing the carafe to soak in the vinegar for a while, run a cycle with plain
water to rinse the machine. Clean your coffee maker once every week or two to
remove rancid coffee oils, mold and other contaminants.
Do not keep your coffee in the refrigerator unless it is in
a container that is absolutely airtight. This is important because moisture can
cause coffee to become moldy. It is best to keep your coffee in the cabinet
where it will stay warm, dry and at its best quality.
Make sure you are patient whenever you are creating lattes.
The best lattes are those that are created with due care. Be careful when
pouring the milk, and use extreme caution when creating the design. Don't just
rush into it, and if you need some ideas on designs, check out Flickr.
As pricey as it can be, treat yourself to some coffee from a
store once in awhile. Specialty coffee houses offer many great extras in their
coffee. Whipped cream, chocolate curls and frothy espresso are some examples.
For people who really enjoy a great cup of coffee, never
take your beans or grind out of the freezer and into the hot water. Keep your
beans at room temperature prior to brewing. If you have a lot, freeze some and
keep enough at room temperature for the week.
Arabica Coffee
Just because you are drinking a dark roast coffee does not
mean your coffee has more caffeine in it. This is just the way the beans were
prepared, not how much caffeine is in them. If your coffee has the term Robusta
on it's packaging, it usually has twice the amount of caffeine as standard
Arabica coffee.
Now that you have these tips under your belt, you should be
the envy of everyone you know. You can now make that perfect cup of coffee that
will wake you up and keep you moving all day long. Keep these tips in mind
every day and enjoy your coffee!
